The Kevorkians... Formed in 1995 as an alternative to the cover bands dominating the local scene. The name of the "suicide doctor", Jack Kevorkian, was chosen for one reason... Because it's a name you will hear everyday until he is dead(or convicted). The music is simplicity and melody. A testimony to how beautifully stripped down song can be. What you hear on the kevorkian's first CD, "Formaldehyde", is two years of growth away from the bar band image, a feat that is very challenging in Oklahoma. Program director Paul Kreiger, of Z104.5 fm radio in Tulsa, felt strongly enough about the material to make an unprecedented move and put three songs in regular rotation, gaining strong response and urging for him to pick a fourth. That song, "Barney vs. Grimace", is still played daily, thus establishing an even stronger following in eastern Oklahoma, leading to extensive gigging throughout Texas, as well as numerous TV shows. The Kevorkians feel very confident about getting their music heard on a national level, as well as shedding light on the handfull of good, origional music from Tulsa. With new guitarist Clint Byram(ex-Theatrics, Freak Magnet), core members Brian Kirk(Ex-Bonz Barcus), and Kenneth Winkle(ex-Freak Magnet, Guy Smiley), are poised to hit it big. The difference between the Kevorkians, the band, and the doctor is that, "We will not put you to sleep!"
