      ST. THOMAS MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

      The Oxford County O.P.P. charged a man last night with impaired driving after Stratford police officers stopped an erratic vehicle at 6:30 p.m. on County Road 2, west of Thamesford.

      Earlier at 6:20 p.m. the Stratford officers were following a van north on Highway 73 and stopped the vehicle. The van pulled away from officers and continued north until hitting County Road 2 where it led officers east. The van stopped for police just west of Thamesford. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was taken into custody by Constable Pete LIPTROTT of the Oxford County O.P.P..

      43 year old Patrick WALSH of St. Thomas is charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample both contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is also charged with failing to stop when signaled to do so by a police officer, under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

      WALSH is scheduled to appear in Woodstock court on the 15th of February 2000.

      ANOTHER SNOWBOARD TAKEN FROM COBBLE HILLS

      The Oxford County O.P.P. are investigating another theft of a snowboard from the Cobble Hills Golf and Ski Club located in Zorra Township. The snowboard was stolen on the afternoon of January 21st around 5:25 p.m.

      The $200.00 board is dark green with a white bottom. The owner of the board left it outside the chalet and went inside for a few minutes and when he returned, it was gone.

      This has been a common occurrence lately and everyone should keep an eye on their property at all times.

      FRESH SNOW HELPS CONNECT SUSPECTS TO STOLEN VAN

      The Oxford County O.P.P. was dispatched this morning at 12:57 a.m. to an abandoned vehicle at Highway 19 and the 401 Highway. Officers arrived and found that the blue 1992 Dodge Caravan had been previously stolen on the 10th of January 2000 from a residence on the Pigram Line in South West Oxford Township.

      There was no one with the vehicle but two fresh sets of footprints received much attention from the officers. Officers followed the prints into the Town of Ingersoll and with the assistance of the Ingersoll Police, located 2 males on Thames Street. They were arrested when the shoes they were wearing matched up with the ones at the van.

      A 17 year old man from Tillsonburg has been charged with being in Possession of a Stolen Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Woodstock court on the 17th of February 2000.

      A 19 year old man from Tillsonburg is currently in custody and charges are pending upon further investigation.

      DAYTIME BREAK AND ENTER ON DANIEL ROAD

      The Oxford County O.P.P. are investigating a break and enter to a residence yesterday on the Daniel Road in South West Oxford Township. Sometime during the day unknown people entered the house and stole several compact discs, and a compact disc player.
