Agreement reached
At 5:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21 a tentative agreement was reached between
Holland Hitch Unit, CAW Local 636 and the Holland Hitch Corporation.
A ratification vote will be held on Sunday January 23 at 10:00 a.m. at
the CAW hall, 126 Beale St. Woodstock. The bargaining committee is
recommending acceptance of this agreement.
Sold
TRW (Kelsey Hayes, Beards Lane, Woodstock) was recently announced that
Eureka Foundry, a division of TRW has now been officially sold. From
a union perspective it will be business as usual.
Copperweld, Standard Tube division has recently been sold to a company
from the States, called L.T.V., and the bargaining committee participated
in early negotiations which was ratified by the membership in late December.
The old contract would have expired on April 1, 2000, this was a very productive
set of negotiations for the membership as major improvements were made
in areas of pensions, wages, and extended health care.
