Frequently Asked Questions about UltraSuede

Do I need special needles to sew UltraSuede or UltraLeather?
No, generally UltraSuede is easily sewn using a universal sewing machine needle size 80/12. If you experience stitch skipping then try a microtex needle when sewing UltraSuede. For skipped stitches on UltraLeather we suggest trying a ball point needle size 75/11. Since Ultra Products do not ravel there is no advantage in sewing with a serger.

Can it be dry cleaned?
Sure if you decide to add UltraSuede appliqué or trim to a melton or mohair jacket it is 100% safe to dry clean. In fact if you want to preserve the crispness of the Ultra Product then have it drycleaned. Machine washing softens the hand of UltraSuede but does not remove its body.

Is UltraSuede suitable for men's wear?
It's a natural! It's extremely practical for vests, sports coats, jackets, hats, ties and other accessories. UltraSuede is masculine, yet lightweight comfortable, to wear and more functional than its non-washable counterpart - real Suede.

Can it be used for quilting?
We have seen some absolutely stunning UltraSuede appliqués and details on wallhangings and quilts. The Nap of UltraSuede adds great design interest and a 3-dimensional appearance. You can also machine quilt pattern designs on UltraSuede for interesting jacket fronts, cuffs or vests.
