PADI

Scuba Diving is great fun. If you are interested in learning more about the courses Andrew teaches or just about scuba in general send some email. Below is a brief description about the courses.

1 - The "Open Water Diver" course is the starting place for new people who wish to explore the underwater world. It is based on a building block learning system where each new skill learned builds on the previous ones. Only when you have mastered step 1, do you move on to step 2 - the student sets the pace.

Instruction uses a combination of an easy-to-read text, videos and classroom and pool instruction. When all the steps have been mastered each student completes 5 open water dives with the instructor prior to certification. PADI certification is recognized world wide and does not expire (although refresher courses are recommended after an extended period of non-diving).

2 - The "Advanced Open Water Diver" course is really more exploring than course. Each student learns more advanced techniques in the areas of Navigation, Deep and Night Diving in addition to selecting two elective areas from topics such as Search and Recovery, Wreck Diving, Drift Diving, Photography, etc. Five dives are completed under the supervision of the instructor after reading the appropriate chapters of the text.

3 - The "Rescue Diver" course is an excellent way to learn how to be prepared to help yourself and other divers avoid potential problems and how to deal with problems if they do occur. This course is for divers who are comfortable with their own abilities. It combines text and video as well as classroom and in-water instruction.

4 - The "Divemaster" course is the next step in PADI's continuing education program and when completed, provides the diver with all the basic tools to become an assistant instructor. Divemasters have the option to become insured "PADI Members" if they plan to assist an instructor with students.
